Vector Biolabs Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 Adenovirus (Ad-MCP-1)
Chemokines are members of a superfamily of inducible, secreted, pro-inflammatory cytokines. Members of the chemokine family exhibit 20 to 50% homology in their predicted amino acid sequences and are divided into four subfamilies. In the C-X-C or alpha subfamily, the first two of four cysteine residues are separated by a single amino acid. In the subfamily designated C-C or beta, the first two cysteines are adjacent. C subfamily members, also designated gamma chemokines, lack the first and third cysteine residues of the conserved motif. Chemokines in these three subfamilies are small, secreted proteins with molecular weights ranging from 7-15 kDa. Fractalkine is a 373 amino acid protein that contains a novel C-X3-C motif in which the first two cysteines are separated by three amino acid residues.

Vector Biolabs Myogenin (myogenic factor 4) Adenovirus (Ad-Myogenin)
Myogenin is a muscle-specific transcription factor that can induce myogenesis in a variety of cell types in tissue culture. It is a member of a large family of proteins related by sequence homology, the helix-loop-helix (HLH) proteins. It is essential for the development of functional skeletal muscle.

Vector Biolabs Rap guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) 4 Adenovirus (Ad-EPAC2)
Epac (exchange protein directly activated by cAMP; also designated cAMP-GEFI) and Epac2 (also designated cAMP-GEFII) compose a novel family of cyclic AMP activated guanine-nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs). Both Epac and Epac2 contain cAMP-binding motifs and a motif common to Ras superfamily GEFs. Epac and Epac2 both function to activate Rap1, a Ras-like GTPase that is known to suppress the oncogenic transformation of cells by Ras. Epac is ubiquitously expressed, whereas Epac2 is primarily expressed in the brain and adrenal glands.

Vector Biolabs Angiotensin II receptor-like 1 Adenovirus (Ad-AGTR-L1)
There are at least two distinct receptor subtypes of angiotensin II: angiotensin II receptor, type 1 (AGTR1) and angiotensin II receptor, type 2 (AGTR2). Most of the effects of angiotensin II are mediated by the AGTR1 receptor. This gene is related to the AGTR1 gene by sequence similarity. It was cloned based on a conserved transmembrane domain found in members of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) gene family

Vector Biolabs Four and a half LIM domains 2 Adenovirus (Ad-FHL2)
The Four-and-a-Half-LIM domain (FHL) proteins include FHL-1 (SLIM-1), FHL-2 (SLIM-3), FHL-3 (SLIM-2) and FHL-4. The signature ¬øhalf-domain¬ø, a single zinc finger domain located in the N-terminal region, differentiates FHLs from other LIM-only proteins, which possess even numbered zinc fingers. Specific combinations of FHL proteins elicit selective activation of both CREB and CREM.

Vector Biolabs MEK1 (dn) Adenovirus (Ad-CMV-MEK1(dn))
Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK), including ERK1/2, p38, and JNK1/2, are important regulators of cell function. The ERK MAPKs are most frequently activated by mitogenes, whereas the JNK and p38 MAPKs are strongly responsive to stress and inflammatory signals. The MAPKs are activated through multiple intracellular phosphorylation cascade events. The core unit includes MAPKKKs and MAPKKs. MEK1 and MEK2 are dual-specificity proteins kinases. MEKs activates ERK1 and ERK2 by phosphorylating both threonine and tyrosine residues at sites located within the activation loop of kinase subdomain VIII.

Vector Biolabs Nuclear factor of kappa light polypeptide gene enhancer in B-cells 1 (p105) Adenovirus (Ad-NFKB1/p105)
This gene encodes a 105 kD protein which can undergo cotranslational processing by the 26S proteasome to produce a 50 kD protein. The 105 kD protein is a Rel protein-specific transcription inhibitor and the 50 kD protein is a DNA binding subunit of the NF-kappa-B (NFKB) protein complex. NFKB is a transcription regulator that is activated by various intra- and extra-cellular stimuli such as cytokines, oxidant-free radicals, ultraviolet irradiation, and bacterial or viral products. Activated NFKB translocates into the nucleus and stimulates the expression of genes involved in a wide variety of biological functions. Inappropriate activation of NFKB has been associated with a number of inflammatory diseases while persistent inhibition of NFKB leads to inappropriate immune cell development or delayed cell growth.

Vector Biolabs catenin (beta) Adenovirus (Ad-CMV-catenin (beta))
The catenins, α , β and γ , are proteins which bind to the highly conserved, intracellular cytoplasmic tail of E-cadherin. Together, the catenin/cadherin complexes play an important role mediating cellular adhesion. α-catenin, a 102 kDa protein, was initially described as an E-cadherin associated protein, and since has been shown to associate with other members of the cadherin family, such as N-cadherin and P-cadherin. The 92 kDa β-catenin associates with the cytoplasmic portion of E-cadherin, which is necessary for the func-tion of E-cadherin as an adhesion molecule. β-catenin has also been found in complexes with the tumor suppressor protein APC. γ-catenin, also known as plakoglobin, is an 82 kDa protein that binds with α-catenin and N-cad-herin.

Vector Biolabs SMAD, mothers against DPP homolog 3 (Drosophila) Adenovirus (Ad-SMAD3)
Mammalian homologs of the Drosophila Mad gene include Smad1 (also designated Madr1 or JV4-1), Smad2 (also designated Madr2 or JV18-1), Smad3, Smad4 (also designated DPC4), Smad5, Smad6, Smad7 and Smad8 (also designated Smad9). Smad1 and Smad5 are effectors of BMP2 and BMP4 function while Smad2 and Smad3 are involved in TGFb and activin-mediated growth modulation. Smad4 is required for all of the above activities and necessitates FAST-1 for DNA binding. Smad6 and Smad7 regulate the response to activin/ TGFb signaling by interfering with TGFb-mediated phosphorylation of other Smad family members.
